General Design and Drafting
AutoCAD® 2008
(S1 - 1)The AutoCAD Productivity Secrets Nobody Told You – Revealed!
Skill Level Guideline: Intermediate/Advanced
Instructor: Matt Murphy

AutoCAD has been around for a long time. Yet simply using AutoCAD every day does not, in itself, make you more productive. Old habits, bad habits and commands and techniques that are simply obsolete are robbing your productivity, making you less efficient. In this session you will learn how to improve your productivity by tapping into AutoCAD’s productivity secrets that banish repetitive steps and tasks. You become more productive by eliminating clicks and picks – period! This session provides all users with instant productivity gains that they can immediately apply! Civil Engineering and Infrastructure
AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2008
(S1 - 2)Real-World Pond Design – Natural Valleys Are Not Square
Skill Level Guideline: Intermediate/Advanced
Instructor: Dave Young

The Civil 3D demos and books show how to design a simple pond using grading objects. But we all know the world isn’t flat, and it’s cheaper to build a big pond or reservoir in a natural valley. In this session, we’ll show you how to combine grading objects and feature lines with contours extracted from the existing ground surface to design a small reservoir in less-than-ideal conditions. Attendees will learn how to use the Grading Volume and Composite Volume tools in Civil 3D to extract earthwork and water volumes, as well as the new hydrology extension used to generate incremental water volume storage tables.

Architecture and Building
Revit® Architecture 2008
(S1 - 3)Take “Drafting” out of “CAD” by Designing with Revit
Skill Level Guideline: Beginner/Intermediate
Instructor: Patrick McLaughlin

Wouldn’t you like to spend more time designing instead of drafting?  Through the power of Revit, CAD has been revolutionized so that drafting your projects on computer is now obsolete!  Revit allows you to seamlessly move from sections, elevations and perspectives and create better coordinated construction documents. Change it once and the change is propagated throughout the entire project automatically. With Revit, CAD means Computer Aided Design, not Computer Aided Drafting.  If you haven’t figured out that spending more time designing and less time drafting increases your bottom line, then it’s time you stepped up and explored Revit and BIM technology.

Manufacturing
Autodesk® Inventor™ 2009
(S1 - 4)Smart Modeling with Autodesk Inventor
Skill Level Guideline: Beginner/Intermediate
Instructor: Rodney Kerbyson

Inventor comes with a library of common components, fasteners, and component generators that can help you save time when creating a digital prototype. In this class, we will explore the Content Center, Design Accelerator, and Frame Generator. What these elements contain and different ways to configure them. We’ll also review some handy practical tips. Using Content Center Components, the Design Accelerator, and the Frame Generator can be a painless and efficient way to speed up your design process and make your digital prototypes more intelligent. Work smarter, not harder!

CAD Management
Autodesk® Design Review 2008
(S1 - 5)Project Drawing and File Collaboration Made Easy
Skill Level Guideline: CAD Management
Instructor: David Cohn

Do you need to exchange drawings and collaborate with others who don’t use AutoCAD? Creating and tracking revisions on projects is a daunting task. In this session you’ll learn how to publish AutoCAD drawings as multi-sheet DWF files and then collaborate using Autodesk Design Review. We’ll cover creating DWF files; using Autodesk Design Review to view, measure and mark up those DWF files; and then using AutoCAD’s Markup Set Manager to view and respond to those markups in a seamless collaboration process. Forget all that red-lined paper! Now you CAN track and manage your mark-ups electronically. AIA 1 Hour Credit Confirmation #68128

Skill Level Guideline: Intermediate/Advanced
Instructor: Robert Green

Have you been itching to try your hand at customizing your AutoCAD-based products, yet have felt intimidated by the CUI customization format? If so, this class will get you rolling and will demonstrate that CUI files aren’t as hard to handle as they seem. Starting with definitions of the functional blocks of customization, we’ll quickly branch out into creating command macros and attaching them to drop-down menus, toolbars and keystroke accelerators, then creating our own workspaces to deploy what you’ve learned. Along the way, we’ll also look at how to bring over legacy controls such as icon menus, how to use multiple CUI files within a single workspace and strategies for employing the Enterprise CUI. If you want to get started with CUI files, this is the class for you. AIA 1 Hour CEU Confirmation #68139
